Air India Flight Review – Economy Class – Mumbai to Bengaluru – A321Neo talks about the Air India Flight which operates between Mumbai to Bengaluru. I recently went to Bengaluru and chose Air India and here is the Air India Flight Review.
Air India Flight Review Mumbai to Bengaluru
A couple of months ago, I was travelling to Bangalore and decided to go for Air India. The trip was planned well in advance and I logged on to check which all airlines fly from Mumbai to Bangalore. There were a couple of options like Air Vistara, IndiGo, Go Air, SpiceJet, Air Asia, Jet Airways (which was operational at that point of time) but I chose Air India because it is said to be the best domestic airline. I had last flown this airline all the way back in 2006 from Delhi to Mumbai and the experience was really amazing.
The boarding time was 8.45 am so I left the house by 6.30 am and reached the airport within an hour. Upon getting down the cab, I clicked the mandatory photo of the Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport and went inside the terminal.
Check-in seemed to be organised with well-marshalled queues. There was a couple of self-check-in and baggage drop counters yet half of the people were not tech-friendly enough to use the technology. As I had done the web check-in, I went to the self-check-in kiosk, entered the E-Ticket Number from my Boarding pass and got the Baggage Tag.
I have been watching a lot of travel vlogs and I was aware of the web check-in. To automate the seat selection and to make travelling easier, web check-in allows you to choose seats and print boarding pass online. By doing this, one can bypass the hassles of standing in long queues at the check-in counters.
The luggage was gone. The security check was completed. I proceeded towards the domestic departure. I was not hungry, but I just wanted to enjoy the sunrise with flights landing and taking off from the runway. So I got Mingles Bucket and Virgin Mojito from KFC.
Our Boarding started at 8.50 am and the flight was supposed to depart by 9.15
Walking down the Aerobridge with my heartbeat rising out of excitement was the best feeling I could ever have.
The Aircraft was Airbus A321 Neo which had 12 business class seats followed by 162 economy class seats. The economy class was laid out in 3-3 configuration with standard factory-installed seats. The crew members were professional and always carried a broad smile on their face.
The aircraft was pushed back at around 9.10 am, about 5 minutes before the scheduled departure time and taxied to the Main Runway 9/27. Within a couple of minutes, we were airborne. The take-off was punctual and hassle-free. We set off into blue skies for 518 miles towards Bengaluru.
Legroom was ample. I really enjoyed the legroom in this flight which is an issue in most domestic airlines.
Twenty minutes later, the snacks were served. Air India has been serving only vegetarian meals on domestic flights, however, flyers of international flight get a non-vegetarian option as well. I had Aloo Paratha, Chickpea Curry, Fruits, Sweet Bun with Butter, Fruits and optional Tea or Coffee along with a bottle of water. The snacks tasted great and I do believe it is excellent for a 2-hour domestic flight anywhere in the world.
There is also this incredible advertisement in front of every seat. Well played LIC India in terms of ad placement because even life needs a good strategy.
The landing was prompt and smooth. The bottom line is that Air India is better than all other domestic carriers. The service on board was very good indeed. My overall experience with Air India was pleasant! The seats were great, a lot of leg space, nice food, friendly cabin crew and free snacks. Excellent service for a good price. There was no in-flight entertainment. The one thing which I really missed was wi-fi but does not make much difference, at least for a 2-hour flight.
